Fake
1:40 am Sat, 26th January 2008Reality checks are a painful but necessary part of life. Particularly when they involve ‘friends’. So I’ve decided I’m not gonna waste any more of my time or energy on fake people. I am who I am, and if my genuine upfront mindset about friendship doesn’t mesh well with the “London way”, so be it. I’m sure I will eventually find like-minded genuine people in this maze of superficiality. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place.
For now, I think I will just focus on what’s important.
Note to readers: Try not to make too many assumptions about what I may or may not be talking about here. I was quite deliberately cryptic 🙂 talking more about how I feel and my particular insights, than any details of my situation, or even my overall opinion of London. Of course if I have personally messaged you about this, you are exempt.

A belated happy birthday to one who could never be a fake in any way. As i have read your blog over the past couple of years and watched your video logs, you are always real, always upfront. Stay true to yourself.

I can understand that you hate the “london way” with its drinking, smoking, fake culture and I can totally understand you. But hey, there are other people living in London, you got to know your BF there – and I know many others who think the way you think – even if it is a little bit crazy and difficult sometimes – I know it first hand. (Though I am not living in London – yet, but am going to move there in September for my studies). But sooner or later, you will be happy you stayed the way you are because this is the reason why your BF, your friends and family – and many other people who don’t even know you in real life but just from your blogs like you and can totally understand what you are going through…
take care, steph

Maria: Aww thanks! 🙂 And its ok.. it’s not like I announced it or anything. Hehe.
Stephanie: Thanks.. 🙂 Its actually harder to find these sort of people you mentioned in london than you might think. I’m sure they exist, but there are alot of people in London. And the majority seem to not think the way I do about these matters. Particularly those who work in the city.. there’s a very strong london-city-culture.. and it can be a quite.. well lets just say loose moral code.
Joe: Thank you so much for your kind words. They really mean alot. 🙂
