I think your three words "life long Londoner" says it all. I've found the same with a lot of people like you, who have also lived their whole life in London/UK.. what they lack is perspective. They have no idea what life is like elsewhere and hence are ignorant about how much London does actually sucks compared to other major cities in the world. I mean, its the most expensive city in the world to live. That's a bad start right there. Oh, and the NHS? Enough said! I fly abroad to get medical treatment and avoid UK hospitals at all cost. I'll admit, there are *some* good things about it (like cheap flights abroad lol.. ok ok there are other good things too - Marks & Spencers would be one.. and a thriving music community). Just because I haven't posted much about these points doesn't mean I don't realise them. It just means I haven't gotten around to writing about them. But still... the actual quality of life.. when you get down to what really makes people happy.. is sorely missing... and its sad that so many people here don't even realise what they're missing. They're unhappy and don't even know it - they just try to get as drunk as possible every weekend as a coping mechanism. (Notice how its only UK that has the binge drinking reputation.. none of the other EU countries have this problem). But anyway, what I write in my blog is just my opinion - if you have a different opinion that's fine.
